Also, would it work as well on sand textured tiles ?
Yep
Does it really work as well as that without scrubbing? Also is the added calgon important? I cant seem to find it with that in.
Yes. No Calgon not important
It work for a 2002/Honda accord remote power door locks and open trunk remotely. Remote was washed then went thru complete dryer cycle. Remote fell out when dry door was opened. Followed video disassembled . sprayed remote heavy three times with WD40 . The next day wiped off excess WD40 then used hair dryer (no heat) . Installed new battery. Remote works .
surprising isn’t it!
What if when the wires touch the door doesnt open , checked all the fuses and they’re fine , we did this then it stopped working again took it apart then when touching wires together it doesnt open ….
It sounds like you did have it working and now it’s stopped again, which would imply a problem with either your wires or fuse, which I see you have checked. Have you definitely done a double unlock on the fob remote? It won’t work unless all door are unlocked. If non of those then you have to get to the solenoid in the lock to check - that is the awkward inside job of removing the rear door cover. Not something I have had to do, yet.
@@comeinhandynow yeah checked everything and your video worked great bought the button and it started working then i just stopped and like when the wire touch nothing soo ill have to take door off i think ...

Total waste of time and money just use a watering can . Pointless anyway weeds will be back before you can say Needs jet washing to do it properly
What a 20L watering can!? Could bearly lift it! lol. You need to kill weeds before jet washing as jet washing alone will just take the top of the weeds off, if you’re lucky. It will also spread the seeds. Bleach will kill the plant and the seeds.
Great tips thanks

Dude! You left ur pressure pin out. Dangerous working next to that grate.
I don’t believe anything was left out and it worked correctly afterwards, please explain what part you believe is the problem. Yes grate a bit close, but not exactly dangerous, it is only 3’ deep and easily accessed.

I've had three Rover cars fitted with their K series engine and I've never had a gasket failure on any if them. My present one is a Rover 45 with the 1.4 K series which not long after I bought it started to run badly so I took it to the garage and they told me, its the head gasket and then quoted me £500 to fix it. This was early in 2020 and as the Government told us all to stay home, I though while im at home I might as well do it myself during lockdown. When I took the head off, I soon realised it was in fact not the head gasket but a leaking vavle. It was also fitted with the newer single steele head gasket. While I had thd head off I reconditioned it and after talking to MGRover spares I bought the gasket as fitted originally with the silicone inserts which they told ne were far better than the original. So while I had the head off, I also fitted new piston rings and then re- fitted the head using the later stronger bolts. Here we are 4 years later and it still drives perfectly with no problems. So how bad are the older Rover type gaskets, when mine works fine ? Also how many cars like mine were wrongly diagnosed with a failed head gasket, when in fact it was fine ?
Well done. The k-series is a better engine than many people believe. It was awarded a ‘design centre’ award and uses some good principles like the oil pump driven directly by the crank. The original elastomer head gaskets can fail by the elastomer moving so the ‘N series’ gasket is better if installed well and that is the key.
@@comeinhandynow Thanks for the reply and yes I had heard that the steel gasket was the better one. However, when deciding what one to use I asked the chap at 'MG Rover discount spares' and he said the latest polymer gaskets are superior to the original ones, so I decided to fit that. In 4 years it hasn't let me down and I've done a lot of miles. Nevertheless, what ever gasket you use, it is a great engine and in my experience not as fragile as its reputation would make you think. I believe it was the later expanded 1.8 engines that suffer head gasket problems not the original, lower powered 1.4 versions. Also it needs to be done properly and I suspect many garages might have not taken the care that it needed when fitting them. Anyway, it is a great engine and I love driving it, shame Rover is no longer making them. 👍😊
@@johnbrereton5229 Agreed
I just restart my freelander 1.8, for the first time after, rebuild all engine. I double check all the electrical conection and fluidd, but hase same metalic sound like yours, and have some idle variation. Is normal? The idle variation can be from the small batery that i took from my 1.6 Toyota Corolla. I apreciate any advice. Thank you so much!!
A metallic ticking is fairly common as the hydraulic tappets takes a while to pump back up to normal height with oil flow and pressure. If they take a long time or never go away then an oil way has got blocked on the cam carrier block due to too much sealant being used, usually. It may go away after a good drive, or it may need that cam carrier seal to be redone. If the idle is varying then it may help if you briefly very quickly press the throttle all the way to the floor while the engine is running, this resets the idle control valve. If that doesn’t help it may mean the mixture strength is off due to an air leak into the inlet manifold or an injector problem. Battery size won’t make any difference.
Thank you for this video! I realized mine was in the pocket of my jeans after the wash had begun agitating but before the spin cycle -- so there was a lot of water but not too much friction just yet. I knew I needed to remove the circuit board, but was afraid of damaging it in doing so -- but thanks to your video I knew how to remove it. I have been saving up those desiccant packets that come with stuff you buy (for this type of purpose, in case I ever needed to dry out electronics exposed to water). So I sandwiched the circuit board between two of those, and sandwiched the battery between two of them, and left it overnight to dry (and I dried off the rest of the unit with a paper towel). We live in the desert, so that helped a lot. I didn't wind up with any corrosion to the unit, so I didn't need to do any extra steps... and today the key fob works!! Thank you so much!
Well done, thanks for the comments.

@@lawtonify This is probably the sort of job for more experienced DIYers. Ones that know what a crank is. There are different ways and preferences for doing this job, so some take the bumper off for more access, some like me prefer to just struggle in the available space without bumper removal. YT offers a lot more tips and options than just a workshop manual that uses the long winded way.

@comeinhandynow Important! Yeah, i just ordered a CV joint outer right side and thepart apparently fits my car - however it came with a cogged outer ABS ring beside the rubber boot, which i had to remove in order for it to fit properly! None of my CV joints have the ring on them but i have ABS in the car. Upon installation i now have the 3 Amigos and error code that my ABS sensor front right is damaged! I ordered the same sensor but cannot insert it all the way in - the old sensor has been bent and is partially worn by the CV joint ! I suspect it is now blocking the new sensor from being installed properly. Do i have the wrong CV joint for Freelander 1 ? Its a 2005 Facelift 1.8L K-series 18K4F engine 86kw 117hp. Apparently i might have an ABS system that reads internally by magnetism on the wheel bearing itself ? Which CV joint should i get ? I sed your CV joints don't have the outer ring either - do you have any info/help/advice or link to the proper part etc ? Should there be a spacer/washer inside the wheel hub to stop the joint hitting the sensor ? Please let me know what you think, yours greatfully, arnodafe72
So I believe the earlier joints had cogs for the abs sensor to give the magnetic pickup. The later ones had the magnetic pattern embedded in the joint so no visible cogs. You need to have the same joint as was fitted originally, so you may have to return it in order to get the correct part. Then if you think the sensor has got damaged, replace that. The sensor is positioned very close to the joint surface in order to pick up the magnetic signal, but obviously not touching to create wear.
@@comeinhandynow you mean the magnetic signal is embedded on the CV joint - not the inner side of the bearing ? It looks the same as yours - do yours work the same way and of so, which part if you know ? I'm over in Sweden so its difficult! Appreciated! Thanks for the reply ! 🍷😏
@@arnodafe yes i believe it must be embedded where the cog was on the old style one. It must be opposite the sensor. Look on ebay that is the same as yours: www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1311&_nkw=land+rover+freelander+1+driveshaft&_sacat=0&LH_CAds=&_udlo=&_fosrp=1&_fpos=&_odkw=Nitrile+rubber+gloves&_osacat=&_sop=12&_ex_kw=&_fspt=1&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udhi=&_sadis=

Hi, i wonder if you could help pls? I took this small first unit out of oir conservatory. Stripped it down, cleaned glass throughly and used clear mastic to seal before gaffa taping all around. I struggled to get all the beading back in, but it misted up AGAIN within hours! Where did i go wrong pls? Tks v much. John
The desiccant inside the spacer bar is saturated with water, you would have to dry it out in an oven, replace it (messy as they are fine beads inside the spacer) or replace the spacer (difficult to get hold of small volumes). You also try putting the old spacer inside a very small room with a dehumidifier on max for a day or two.
Very informative. Thank you. Subscribed!
Thanks!
Thank you sir, I have conquered the fearsome tap drip and am basking in the splendour of victory.
Excellent, well done.
My head was damaged by the fire ring indenting the head. That saver shim doesn't save anything. Eventually I popped an N-series on and shimmed fhe cylinders to 5 thou proud of the block. Tell you what, that Loctite 574 is pretty expensive. Less expensive than a new head, though, so well worth it! Thanks for the tips. Did my head a long time ago. Did all the upgrades. Going strong for +41k miles since, and I drive her hard. No issues or hiccups. **touch wood** P.S. You're right about the dowels. I had a cheaper Chinese MLS gasket with head saver shim (two of them went) and both had dowels that held the head off the block just enough that it dripped coolant out the side of the gasket. Not good!
That’s a good job then, well done.
Hi. How do i get the mechanism out if the door doesn't ooen?
If it is the microswitch in the handle not working then follow this video. If it’s the solenoid motor not operating the lock then you have to remove the inside panel from inside the car to get to the lock unit, which I mention briefly in the video.
Sorry you showed removal of the seals (beads) with a rubber mallet and a spatula around to get to the glass unit and you said that to reinstall them their rubber ridges would not pop into place in the frame grooves easily, that you have to put them back first before re-installing the glass and that there would be enough gap to slide the glass over them. Forgive my incredulity but that sounds not easy to do at all. Could you reassure that step and give further guidance.
That is a good point and for many years I thought like you are thinking that the reassembling order should be the same as disassembly..However after years of seeing the bead move out later all over the place, I realised that the reason and putting the bead in first is the solution and it works. Give the window a push into the frame to help compress the rubber. It works and the outer bead stays in place!
@@comeinhandynow thank you, it was worth asking and you gave the confident answer i was hoping for.

Hello, I would like to ask, I am from the Czech Republic and I have a freelander 1.8 version 18k4f from 2004 and I bought this car and I am losing water in a big way, I thought that these defects were solved only this year after the facelift, do you know if there was already a reinforced oil ladder on these engines and they glue the N series seals?
To be honest I am not sure if that year has those improvements. Try and be sure where the water is being lost. It could be the water pump leaking which is easier to fix, or a radiator leak, or a hose. If it is the head gasket there should be a loss of compression on a cylinder (use a compression tester) and probably steam / smoke from the exhaust.
there is no water flowing anywhere on the side or under the car and I lose a lot of water and the exhaust smokes not much, but it smokes when I bought the car, a head gasket was done before, including the alignment of the head, the scales were not sunken, I am afraid that the block or head is cracked
@@radimadamovky-sl4qd A cracked head or block is unlikely. To check if the water is going into the combustion chamber, buy a cylinder compression tester (not expensive) and test each cylinder for the compression value, with all of the spark plugs out. If water is getting into the combustion chamber then one of the reading will be lower than the others. Also often you can get oil mixing with the water or water in the oil so look for that. If the head gasket was recently changed it is probable that it wasn't done properly.
Děkuji za pomoc

Covered on another video of mine, but also not such a regular item compared to the rest. See ruclips.net/video/BPHUbgBAF_I/видео.html
@@comeinhandynow Hi there, Yes only seen it later.. People don't change them on the td4 as it's awkward.. and the crankcase breathers another thats never changed... Good vid tho' : )

Hello! I have changed this immobilizer in the past, this after the car would not start. Now this error appeared. Do you think if I fix it like you did it will still need CAS reset? Sorry for google translate.
You should clear the warning light shown in my other video on that using software and a connection to the obd2 port. It may possibly clear eventually after this fix, but may not and better to clear it yourself
Hi, as per other comments your videos are easy to follow. On the underside of the body, do you use waxoyl classic, yellow can or the underbody specific version (black can) I’ve been told the yellow can stuff doesn’t dry quite the same and can remain tacky. ? Thanks
It’s the yellow can and I add 10% of old engine oil for a bit more softness and ability to soak in.
appreciate, thkx
Cheers
Hello, I have the opposite problem. I live in Sardinia, the temperature is too high! The thermostat installed is it the standard. The water circuit don't have any leaks but the water expansion tank level go dawn! I installed a switch to start the cooling fans. Much better now, any advice? Thanks you for your help! Ciao from Sardinia Simone
I am assuming it is the TD4 diesel engine. Get yourself an OBD2 module and s/w on your phone and read the engine temperature, that should tell you if the engine temperature sensor is working and what temperature the engine actually is. If you really can’t find any leaks (look for where water might have evaporated as well) and it consistently uses a lot of water then it would be a head gasket leak inside the engine. Check if it is smoking white smoke/steam at the tailpipe.
Yes diesel, model year 2000, I hope it's not a problem with the head gasket, or a leak, there are no traces of oil in the expansion tank. the loss of water is minimal, I add a glass of liquid every 100 km. with the fans on when it gets to temperature now it's even a little less. thanks I will check with OBD2. thanks very much
... helpful, thanks :)
Cheers
Many thanks from a Brand new MG4 Xpower owner 👍🏻 Only found out after picking the car up that no locking wheel nuts as standard 🙄 Ended up buying a Type 2 charging cable as well… 😳 Did come with the granny charger as standard though..
Thanks, enjoy the car, I know I do. If you haven’t already done so, look into getting the cheap electricity, 7.5p/kwh on octopus go intelligent. A 4x saving.
Hi, congratulations on your work, excellent method. Is it possible to push the brake piston with the car with the engine running and the brake off? Isn't it faster and you avoid dismantling additional pieces?
You could try but I have a feeling that the problem with other methods is that after a while the car would reapply the parking brake.
👍
Brilliant! Thank you. I just fixed my hob knob your way and it's saved me a small fortune. £33 for a new knob v £10 for the putty stuff. No brainer. Plus - there's another knob there on the front of my oven bound to fail at some point in the future. You're a bloody genius. 👍👍
Thanks!
I was wondering about the level conductivity through the adhesive side of the copper tape, as you originally had it. Do you think that could be why the wires were needed?
No the adhesive is a conductive type on the tape I bought. This can be tested with a multimeter.
Hello, thanks for your video, have you had some more problems after this job? I have the same in my Freelander, thanks for your answer. Regards Simone
Thanks. No more problems
Thanks for your message! I did the work, and today I tested, all ok for now. Was little bit difficult to understand how to stick springs inside, but after close the door lock I have putted inside the 2 springs. Thanks you again. Simone
